Credit Scout
Consumer credit, explained slowly

We explain the mechanics. We do not tell you what to buy.

Credit Scout is a small reference site about consumer credit in the United States. Two people write it. We describe how the machinery works — scoring models, report furnishers, dispute timelines — and we try hard not to guess at your situation, because we do not know it.

Before you read anything else

Nothing here is legal or financial advice. Practice varies by state and by furnisher, and the article you are about to read may be several months old. Where a deadline matters we name the law that sets it, so you can check the current text yourself rather than trusting our summary of it.
